The Burmese military regime announced on Sep 17 that it will release 7114 prisoners from prisons around the country. U Zaw Win, Director of the regime’s Prison Department spoke to journalists gathering in front of Insein Prison today that at least about 250 prisoners who were imprisoned for security reasons would be included in the release. So far, I can confirm the release of 54 political prisoners below, based on various sources, including AAPP, NLD (LA) and Burmese radio services. Two MPs, two monks and three journalists are included.
